Closing Shop

goodbye

My life has become far too busy once again to manage two blogs. I spent the summer trying to find my blog niche, and I have found it. It doesn’t reside here. While I love food blogging- food and photography, what’s not to love?- my true passion continues to be teaching and photography. Both of these passions can be best pursued at Classroom Confessions.

I am leaving the site open should the whim/ opportunity/ time to food blog return to my life, but for now, no more food blog posts.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog and I hope you will follow me @ Classroom Confessions. I sometimes post food pics there when they are really, really good ;)

Opa! Well not really…

DD and I have been meaning to try this famous local Greek restaurant in Coral Gables called Maria’s and we finally got to go tonight. :)

Oddly enough we went on the one day that I really didn’t have an appetite, but the food was so good that I sort of forced myself to eat most of it.

I have never tried Greek food before, so I went with a classic-Mousaka.

This was AMAZING! I ate all of the Mousaka and green beans but didn’t really touch the rice. I did have two small pieces of pita bread (un-pictured).

I will definitely be going back here again. Delish!

Super Quick Dinner

Tonigh DD and I were being lazy so we had a super quick dinner: Pollo Tropical. I got the 1/4 chicken dark with rice and beans.

Not the most interesting dinner, but the best fast food I can think of (actually, subway is pretty decent too).

Alright, I am off to continue pretending to do work. Nite!

Running Errands

Yesterday I had a really boring food day. Breakfast was my staple oatmeal with raisins and Greek yogurt with honey and then for dinner, DD and I made pre-packaged Monterrey brand ravioli. I think the flavor was garlic and chicken(?) and I topped it with vodka sauce.

I had the same breakfast this morning (I really will try to make more interesting breakfast choices some day) and then went to the gym for Zumba. It was a little sad because today was my last Friday at noon Zumba as I will be back at work starting Tuesday.

After the gym, I made a chocolate shake with Lactaid Milk, Chocolate Amazing Grass Powder, half a banana, and ice.

This was super and yummy and energizing! I love amazing grass! I highly recommend the chocolate one as the regular tastes a little too much like grass.

DD and I had a ton of errands to run today to Costco, Staples, et. and after we grabbed a quick lunch (to-go, we ate it at home) from OBBA. I ordered the chicken teriyaki bowl with brown rice and it was HUGE! I ended up eating most of it since I was really hungry though.

Alright, I am off to do some pre-school planning now. See you for dinner!

Asparagus Rocks My Socks

I know I made asparagus last night, but it rocked my socks so much that I decided to do it again tonight. Look at this yummy goodness!

For some ridiculous reason I cannot explain, my meatloaf was having issues and I ended up having to cut it up after 45 minutes and cooking the pieces separately. I therefore have no picture of said meatloaf as it still tasted good, but looked really unappetizing. I paired the asparagus and meatloaf with yellow rice which was a super yummy combination.

After dinner, DD took a pic of me cleaning up the kitchen while playing with my camera.

Alright, I am off to read and then go to bed, Nite!

Mexican Mid-day Munchies

And the alliteration continues!

DD and I went to go pick out his new glasses, and after he was craving Lime so we headed there for lunch. I was not that hungry since I had my super filling breakfast (see earlier post) so I got a small guacamole and a cup of the chicken tortilla soup. Both were very yummy and my meal only cost $4!

Sorry about the quality, iphones are not the best cameras.

After Lime, I need some teacher supplies so we headed to Get Smart. DD was not happy about me spending so much time there so I figured we could stop for a nice coffee at Borders. The girl behind the counter looked bored to tears and made DD and I the worst coffees we’ve ever had! We both ordered double shots of espresso and you couldn’t taste a thing. It was like lukewarm milk. DD drank it but I refused to drink mine so when I got home a few minutes ago I mixed the coffee in the blender with an Amazing Grass packet and some ice.

My “smoothie” turned out ok and still tasted way better than before. Plus, I love the addition of all the veggies!

Basically Breakfast

I love alliteration!

I woke up around 10 but layed in bed reading till a few minutes ago (It’s 11:49). I just finished this book by Sloane Crosley entitled I Was Told There’d be Cake. It’s labled as a collection of essays but it reads more like a collection of short memoirs. I love her sarcasm and would highly reccomend this book.

For breakfast, I went to my “guaranteed to keep me full” breakfast combo of Oatmeal with Raisins and Greek Yogurt.

I used to be a Chobani Greek Yogurt addict, but the other day I went to the store and they were out. So I grabbed a Fage 2% total since I’ve seen it on a lot of food blogs and figured it had to be at least okay. Well boy was I imressed! I got the honey flavor and it just made this yougurt! I love the sweetness and how creamy it is. I think this is my new fave!

Here’s my portion:
